Day 1 - Tuesday, July 17, 2007

Heidi, Alina, and I are flying to Budapest, Hungary for 4 days. WOW!!! More to come soon!

We left Bucharest around 7:30pm and flew a really cheap flight to Budapest, Hungary. We rode on a train from the airport to a train station in North Budapest. From there, around 10pm, we walked down the streets soaking up the diverse culture of Hungary. It's similar to Bucharest, but different in so many ways. The sights, smells, and sounds-- especially the language. Wow. It's been said to be the 4th most difficult language to learn (1st is suppose to be Navajo-- so "they" say).

We walked down a main street to a youth hostel called "Riverside Hostel". For those of you who don't know what a youth hostel is, you are exactly like me when I arrived. It's basically really really cheap way to have a place to stay when traveling. It's an apartment with multiple rooms for rent. You share the room with other travelers-- as well as the bathroom, kitchen, etc. For instance, I stayed in a room with ten beds. I walked into a room of 6 English college age guys. That night I also met a guy from Spain who had been traveling for 3 months. I've met 2 girls from Germany, 4 people from France, two guys from Brazil, and one from Mexico. Overall, a wide variety of people (mostly young) come, lodge and enjoy inexpensive time in the city. They have them all over the world
apparently. Check out Wikipedia if you want to know more.
